Council of Interstate Testing Agencies

The Council of Interstate Testing Agencies is composed of five member states (Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, West Virginia) and one territory (Puerto Rico). CITA is an independent regional testing agency which administers the CITA dental and dental hygiene clinical licensure examinations in the states of Alabama, Louisiana, North Carolina, and the territory of Puerto Rico.


In 2013 the Board of Directors of CITA has voted to administer the ADEX clinical dental licensure examination starting in 2014. The ADEX examination for dental candidates, which will be administered by CITA, is recognized for licensure in a total of 45 states/territories/districts, while the CITA exam, which was administered through 2013 for dental candidates, is recognized for licensure in a total of twenty six (26) states/territories.
